Millions of years ago Lake Skadar was a bay of the Adriatic Sea. Over time, the bay was cut off from the sea and it became a lake that’s mostly fed by the Morača River and drains into the Adriatic Sea via the Bojana River.

Its bulwarks seem to have been eternally growing rock tendrils along the hill, up to the old fortress that overlooks the town. As a tourist destination, Albania has become more and more attractive for tourists from Europe in recent years. Until now I have visited many of them, but one creates a special spark in my heart when I visit it. That is Korčula island. Korčula is well connected to the Croatian mainland and Dalmatian coast. There are various options to reach the Island (buses, ferries...). It is a well known destination to visit in Croatia, but it’s not as busy or overcrowded as other Croatian islands.

Most restaurants also serve food that has strong Balkan-Turkish influences. Highly recommended homemade burek, mantle, pie fly, which is baked under the baking lid, but also sugar desserts such as baklava, tulumba and tespishta can be tasted in Prishtina. If you like great food, you should definitely include Prishtina in your Kosovo tour.

With its great cultural, historical and demographical characteristics, it is an exceptional gem that used to be part of the former Yugoslavia. The capital and biggest city is Skopje and it is the political, cultural, economic and administrative center of North Macedonia.
